Now, more than ever, the Philippines needs its citizen changemakers.
Right now, it is so hard to love our country. Really.
I find myself staring blankly at my screen for over a couple of hours now, having difficulty in composing thoughts because for months now, my thoughts have been a mess. I feel so bad for the only country that I so loved and owned – the Philippines.
Ever since the political stability of the country has been corrupted by a number of ambitious persons, whose greed seem to have exceeded their physical place on earth and have transcended towards the doors of hell, it is truly difficult to love this country.
We can see how few Filipinos trample upon the rights of others and abuse their powers to advance their political capital and fatten their pockets at the expense of the Filipino people. Its sickening to the bone. It is so disgusting that others wish to leave the country to the dogs.
However, the Philippines is our country of origin. We are Filipinos. One of the greatest race- living in an archipelago, with rich cultural diversity, one of the happiest people on earth despite being ravaged by typhoons and storms year after year.
We are Filipinos, one of the most resilient survivors in the global society. You can throw us anywhere and we can still survive. Our adaptation skills are comparable to some remarkable reptiles and amphibians that ever lived. Our skills are highly recognized, we seldom complain, we endure as much as we can stomach. We suffer in silence.
But there is always a time for reckoning.
The recent turn of events in the nation’s political landscape is really a defining moment for all Filipinos. We are usually passive to wrongdoings and as mentioned, we suffer in silence. We endure as much, but when worse comes to worst – we go out on the streets ready to render our life to our nation.
We will not dwell on the details of our political bickering because it will just make us throw up. But one thing is for sure, the suffering threshold of the Filipinos on the wrongdoings is about to explode and the tolerance is barely holding up. The citizens are angry of the political divide because peace is elusive and the abuses are too much.
If not for the holidays, and a church warning authorities to stop the impeachment process, the greedy dogs will stop at nothing just to destroy peace and harmony in our country.
Poor, Philippines.
Such is her fate.
Is there hope though?
As mentioned, NOW more than ever, is the best time to love our country and be the change we want to see in it. We must activate our nationalism and patriotism at this crucial period. We cannot let abuse and oppression be our breakfast. We should not allow Martial law 2.0 to happen before our very eyes and devour what is left of our dear Philippines.
Our country needs citizen changemakers. These are everyday people who take action to improve their communities and the world around them. They are not necessarily famous activists or politicians; they are ordinary individuals who use their unique skills, talents, and resources to create positive change.
You can be a community volunteer who dedicate their time to local organizations, shelters, or environmental groups. Online Creators and journalists who use social media and other online platforms to raise awareness about important issues and mobilize support for social causes.
Local activists who advocate for local issues, such as improved public transportation, affordable housing, or environmental protection.
Social Entrepreneurs who start businesses with a social or environmental mission, aiming to create positive impact while generating revenue.
Educators and mentors who inspire and empower young people to become active citizens and changemakers themselves.
Citizen changemakers are the backbone of any thriving society. Their actions demonstrate the power of individual initiative and the importance of civic engagement. By working together, citizen changemakers can create a more just, equitable, and sustainable world for all.
Changemakers should be angry with abusers. Angry at greedy dogs. Angrier with crocodiles bastardizing our country at the expense of the Filipinos. We should be irate with politicians using taxpayers money as if they were their own to expand their political capital.
We should be angry. Angry with abusers. Angry at greedy dogs. Angrier with crocodiles bastardizing our country at the expense of the Filipinos. We should be irate with politicians using taxpayers money as if it were their own, to expand their political capital.
We should never let them win. We must never let them continue eroding this country’s morals and future. For the sake of our children.
When we love our country, we should speak and discuss the injustices. We should not keep quiet, we should take action, no matter how small and simple, to defy evil and save our country from perdition.
Even overseas Filipinos, you should not turn your heads away. You have the power to call out our leaders, our abusers because your families are here. They are the ones directly affected if the Philippines is in turmoil.
Love. Save. Help. Do one good deed at time and make a ripple. Soon others will follow. And the change we are all praying for will come to light our day. But only if there is love for the country, no matter how hard it is to do for the Philippines now, our efforts will turn the tide and pray we see a day when we can all wake up, continue to live in peace and go chase our dreams.
